Ellen Brander is apl professor at the University of Stuttgart. She has a permanent position at the Institut für Linguistik/Germanistik (ILG). Her research interests are to be located generally in syntax and in the morpho-syntax of non-standard varieties (dialects) as well as in diachrony, covering topics like Verb-second with its interface to pragmatics, exclamatives, infinitival syntax, relativization and wh-extraction. One of her main issues is to capture dialectal/diachronic variation within the generative syntax model. She has applied successfully for several DFG-projects, including an on-going project on ’Partition and Individuation in Germanic’, which examines the nominal domain within a nano-syntactic framework. From 2011-2016, Ellen Brandner led the DFG-project SynAlm (Syntax des Alemannischen) at the University of Konstanz. The data on relative and adverbial clauses obtained in this project will be integrated into the database to be built. She supervised the dissertation by Iris Bräuning ‘Relativsatzstrategien im Alemannischen’ at the University of Konstanz. Her current interests are in the fine-grained analysis of verbal predicates within the nano-syntactic framework.
