Katrin Axel-Tober is professor at the University of Tübingen and holds the chair in ‘German Linguistics: German Grammar and Historical Linguistics’. She was co-project leader of the project on ‘The expression of extra-propositional meaning’ between 2013 and 2021 as part of the SFB 833 ‘The Constitution of Meaning’. She specializes in syntax and diachronic linguistics and has more recently worked on issues at the grammar-pragmatics interface. She has published two monographs and various articles on the diachrony of the complementizer domain in early German(ic), the development of that-type complementizers and adverbial subordinators out of relative-clause structures and on the correlative construction.
