Universität Tübingen, PhD candidate
Melle Groen is a PhD candidate at the University of Tübingen, where he is working on a cross-linguistic study of complementizers and their morphosyntactic properties. Melle earned his Research Master’s degree at Leiden University in the Netherlands, where he wrote his thesis on nominalization in the Iraqw language, based on data he gathered during field research in Tanzania. His main research interests are morphosyntactic theory and cross-linguistic variation, particularly with regards to the complementizer domain/left periphery, information structure, and nominalization. He is interested in languages from around the world, having done fieldwork in Ecuador, Kenya and Tanzania, but he also has experience with comparative Indo-European linguistics and microvariation in Dutch.
